About Fallout Products
Fallout Products is a company
established to reward millions of
Cold War veterans who lived for over
forty years with Thermonuclear Anxiety.
This award gives recognition to YOU ,
a survivor of one of the major events
in history. If you were unable to
fall asleep at night with thoughts of
Mutually Assured Destruction,
Cold War Star PrototypeFirst Strike,
Multiple Warheads,
Vaporization,
Annihilation,
or Radio-Active Fallout,
you surely suffered from Thermonuclear anxiety. Fallout Products
recognizes YOU as a bonafide Cold War Veteran, and would like to present
you with an opportunity to award yourself with a well deserved set of medals.
Fallout Products was established in 1992 as the Russian missiles were
being dismantled. After receiving permission from the On-Site Inspection
Agency in Washington, D.C., Reg Lee traveled to Russia to buy Russian
missile scrap that was generated by the INF and START treaties. He went to
Novgorod, south of St. Petersburg, where the SS11 missiles were being torn
down. Lee bought one ton of scrap, which yielded four hundred pounds of
aluminum once it had been melted down to extract the titanium and other
exotic metals used in the missiles for strength. The next step was to stamp
the medallions. Lee hired the services of Linenenameler, a Russian firm
that for years had produced propaganda pins for the Communists and was now
quite eager for new Capitalist ventures. After a few arguments about the
design on the face of the medal (Lee wanted the old Russian flag, they
wanted the new one, he wanted the Cold War Cross, they said no religious
symbols), they agreed to imprint just the Cold War star and Cold War
Campaign Medallion. The word "Betepah" means "Veteran" or "Survivor" in
Russian. Medals are standard size with a pin back.
All of salvaged materials were carefully checked to make sure no
radioactive contamination was present. The awards only needed to look
attractive, not glow in the dark! Fallout Products hopes that these
unique and attractive medals will bring you a mutually assured
sense of closure and irony to an event of major historical significance.
Medals are intended for use by State Guard Organizations, Military and
patriotic societies and private citizens who served during the Cold War.
